SUMMARY:Rochester Regional Meeting - Compensability in the Life Cycle of a Claim
DESCRIPTION:Essential for anyone involved in managing their employer’s workers’ compensation claims. This course will outline topics such as: \n-Initial Proceedings in Controverted Cases; \n-Litigating Disputes; \n-Hearings in Established Cases; \n-Vocational Issues in Continuing Compensation Cases; \n-Permanency and Closing Continuing Compensation Cases; \n-SLU Awards – once claimant reaches MMI\, the claimant will likely obtain opinion on SLU to obtain payment \nClassification Awards – in carrier’s interest to pursue as soon as possible to lock in “cap” on PPD benefit \nClosing without SLU or Classification –many claimants just get better\, return to normal\, and have no residual permanent disability. This should be the goal in every case; \n-Reopening Closed Cases \n-Appeals \n-Settlements \n-Stipulations \n8.1.1         Common Stipulations – ANCR/ODNCR\, AWW\, period and extent of disability\, permanency \n8.1.2         Procedure – made orally or by short written form (C-300.5)\, reviewed by WCLJ\, and approved at hearing; and \n-Section 32 Agreements \nThe session will be led by Joseph DeCoursey\, partner with the firm of Hamberger & Weiss.
