SUMMARY:Are You Prepared? Active Shooter Discussion
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Presenters: Angela M. Guptill-Nagle\, Schools Risk Management Specialist\, PERMA and \nTraditional Lockdowns vs. Multi-Option Responses: Implementing the Right Strategy for Active Shooter Incidents \nAn active shooter incident at school is not something anyone wants to consider. But for administrators and educators\, the topic is unfortunately unavoidable\, making it critical to establish response protocols. In some school systems\, the response to an active shooter incident is a still traditional lockdown. Others implement the federally recommended multi-option response\, which incorporates multiple strategies\, including enhanced lockdowns. \nUnlike a single-option lockdown response to an active shooter incident\, multi-option response empowers individuals to take part in their own survival\, learning to be proactive in the face of violence. This approach ingrains alternative actions that can be taken based on the circumstances\, like when a student or teacher might be in a gym\, hallway\, or sports field and not able to participate in a traditional lockdown. Multi-option responses include enhanced lockdown procedures\, in addition to other response options. \nAbout Presenters:  \nJoseph Hendry\, PSP\, CLEE \, Senior Director\, On-Site Services Navigate360 \nJoe was named by the Ohio Department of Homeland Security and Ohio Attorney General’s?Office as an expert in civilian and law enforcement response to active threats.
